Notarizing important documents in Washington is now more convenient than ever, thanks to Remote Online Notarization (RON). This modern approach offers several advantages over traditional in-person notary services, including enhanced security, protection against fraud, and the ability to electronically sign and notarize documents from the comfort of your own home.
Washington took a significant step towards embracing RON when Governor Jay Inslee signed Senate Bill 5641 in 2019. This legislation, which came into effect on October 1, 2020, enabled the state’s 74,000 commissioned notaries to perform remote notarizations, making Washington the ninth state to pass RON legislation at that time.
With Secured Signing’s RON platform, the process of notarizing your documents online in Washington is both secure and straightforward. Here’s how it works:
Access a State-Approved Platform: Signers use a state-approved RON platform, like Secured Signing, to meet virtually with a state-commissioned notary public.
Identity Verification: As with all RON processes, each signer must undergo identity verification to ensure the security of the notarization process.
Virtual Notary Session: All signers must appear before the notary at the same time, but they do not need to be in the same physical location. This flexibility allows everyone to participate from the comfort of their own homes.
eSignature & Notarization: Once the signer’s identity is verified, they will electronically sign the document, which will then be notarized by the commissioned notary with a digital seal.
By leveraging Secured Signing’s RON platform, Washington residents can enjoy a fast, secure, and seamless experience. Whether it’s real estate transactions, legal agreements, or any other important documents, you can now notarize with confidence from the comfort of your home.
