Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) with Secured Signing

Secured Signing now supports Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) under eIDAS in the EU and equivalent UK electronic signature regulations. It’s the highest legal standard an e-signature can reach, giving organisations across Europe and the UK a way to sign documents with the same legal weight as a wet-ink signature, without adding a separate vendor to their compliance stack.

QES Solutions You Can Trust — Signed. Sealed. Certain

What Is a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)?

Unlike a standard or advanced electronic signature, a QES:

  • Meets advanced e-signature requirements — it’s uniquely linked to an identifiable signatory, who retains sole control of the signing data, and any later change to the document can be detected.
  • Is created using a Qualified Signature Creation Device (QSCD) — certified hardware or software built to strict EU technical standards.
  • Is backed by a Qualified Certificate — issued by a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) after rigorous identity verification.

Because of these requirements, a QES is legally non-repudiable: the signer cannot later dispute that they signed. That’s what gives it the same legal standing as a wet-ink signature across the EU and UK.

How QES Works Within the Secured Signing Platform

Secured Signing brings QES into the same platform organisations already use for everyday signing, so qualified signatures aren’t a separate process bolted on the side. Signers can move between standard e-signatures, advanced e-signatures, and full QES within one workflow, with the identity verification and certificate issuance handled as part of the signing journey itself.

QES also connects directly with Secured Signing’s Remote Electronic Notarization (REN) capability. That means qualified signing and remote notarisation can run through the same connected process, useful for transactions that need both maximum legal assurance and a notarised record.

You will need Secured Signing credits on your account, to be used  to pay per signature.
