The invention of the Tablet PC brought significant change to the computer industry. Its portability feature, wide range of business applications, and prioritisation of user needs and experience all contribute to the apparent widespread usage, and ever-growing market. A latest research by The Nielsen Company (USA, May, 2011) examined customers’ acceptance. Findings reflect this developing trend with 35 percent of tablet owners who also own a desktop computer reporting they are using the latter less often, or not at all.
Another survey by Forrester and Shop.org (May, 2011) reviewed the commercial use of Tablet PCs among retail businesses. Its report mirrors the above with 91 percent declaring they have a mobile strategy in place, or are in the development stages of one; 21 percent state they are already using a Tablet PC for their business’ mobile traffic.

A successful example of business use of the Tablet PC is the companies that wish to get rid of the hassle of a paper trail, need to complete a signing process in electronic format, and want to avoid the downloading of an application form. These businesses incorporate into their workflow the digital signature solution that enables sales reps and customers (in the store, or remotely) to complete the whole process on-the-go: view the document, capture graphical signature, and execute the contract. This profitable implementation provides all parties involved with a current, prompt, and efficient service that reduces costs, improves customer service, and promotes a Green paperless environment.
Till next time,
Cheers, John
